The woman/young woman nomination must meet the following criteria:
- Colorado Black women/young women who represent the values and principles exemplified by CBWPA
- Has had exemplary achievements in the Black community that have resulted in a positive impact women/youth who have advocated for themselves and others
- Women/Youth who stood up to authority when it was not in their self-interest do so.
